Siem Reap to Host Cambodia-China Travel Fair in Early December

Phnom Penh, November 12, 2024 – The Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cambodia, relevant ministries, institutions, and the private sector, will host the “Cambodia-China Travel Fair” in Siem Reap from December 6-8, 2024.

This event forms part of the ongoing “Cambodia-China People-to-People Exchange Year 2024” and the “Visit Siem Reap 2024” campaigns, according to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Tourism.

Approximately 50 Chinese buyers, 50 Chinese sellers, 100 Cambodian sellers, and 50 Cambodian and Chinese media outlets are expected to participate in the fair, the ministry confirmed. The three-day event will feature key activities such as a Cambodia tourism promotion seminar, business-matching sessions, pre- and post-event tours, and a range of related programs.

Cambodia and China have previously partnered on multiple initiatives to strengthen their tourism industries, aiming to boost Chinese tourist arrivals to Cambodia and attract further Chinese investment in Cambodia’s tourism sector.

Tourism data from the ministry highlights a 22.7 percent increase in foreign arrivals in Cambodia for the first half of this year, reaching 3.16 million visitors compared to 2.57 million in the same period in 2023. Of these, 389,360 were Chinese tourists, marking a significant 45.2 percent rise.
